Phyllis Bergeson, 1927-2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis Bergeson announces her passing. Phyllis passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community in Albert Lea. She was 92 years old.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea with Chaplain Todd Walsh officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
Phyllis Lorraine (Kurth) Bergeson was born July 17, 1927, in Albert Lea to Richard Adolph Kurth and Ida (Urban).
Phyllis was united in marriage to Howard Bergeson on Nov. 10, 1946, and the couple was blessed with two children.
Phyllis worked in the banking industry for over 48 years. She started at Peoples Savings and Loan in Albert Lea before moving to Sun City, Arizona, to become the branch manager at different financial institutions.
After her retirement, she enjoyed shopping, walking, playing golf and helping others. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed volunteering whenever she could. Whether it was taking care of her customers at the bank or helping other people, caring for others was Phyllis’ top priority.
Phyllis will be remembered by her children Linda (Mark) Beasley and Larry (Deb) Bergeson; grandchildren Latisha Morrow, Kristin (Mel) Nemec, Jenny Bergeson and Heather (Ryan) Hintz; six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Ellingson; as well as many extended relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by both parents, Adolph and Ida Kurth; husband, Howard Bergeson; great-grandson, Steven Zuniga; a brother-in-law, Bob Ellingson; and many extended family members.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the girls in the memory care unit at Thorne Crest and also to St. Croix Hospice for the loving care and attention they gave to Phyllis.
