A 16-year-old girl died Monday afternoon after a car and semi collided on Minnesota Highway 13 south of Manchester.

The State Patrol indicated Grace Elizabeth Zimmerman, 16, of Alden was driving a 2019 Ford Fiesta east on Freeborn County Road 14 when her vehicle collided with a 2020 Peterbuilt tractor, driven by Daniel Joseph Petracek, 57, of Waseca, who was traveling north on Highway 13.

The crash took place at 2:47 p.m.

Zimmerman was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, where she later died, and Petracek was not injured.

Both drivers were listed as wearing their seat belts.

Roads were listed as wet at the time of the crash and snow was falling in the area.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Albert Lea Fire Department and Manchester Fire Department assisted at the scene.
