Three members of the Albert Lea boys’ basketball team were named to Big Nine All-Conference teams over the weekend.
Senior Chay Guen was named as the only Tiger on the Big Nine All-Conference first team, while seniors Koby Hendrickson and JJ Mucha-Owens were named to the Honorable Mention team.
Guen, the Tigers’ center, led the team in many statistical categories including offensive rebounds, total rebounds, steals, blocked shots and points. He was second in two-point field goal percentage and defensive rebounds.
Throughout the season, Guen scored 501 points, pulled in 224 rebounds — 82 of which were offensive, and recorded 53 steals, 46 blocks and 53 assists.
Hendrikson, a point guard, led the team in two-point field goal percentage, defensive rebounds and assists. He was second in free-throw percentage and steals. The point guard recorded a two-point field goal percentage of 57.3%, 150 defensive rebounds and 113 assists. He also tallied 200 points, 43 steals and nine blocks.
Mucha-Owens, a shooting guard, led the Tigers in three-point percentage and free-throw percentage. He was second in scoring and assists. Mucha-Owens totaled 380 points, 114 rebounds, 78 assists and 36 steals with a 83.3% free throw percentage and a percentage of 30.9% from three point territory.
Three Albert Lea players making the teams in the 2019-20 season is an uptick in players from the previous season, in which Dylan Scherff was the only player to make a team.
