Editorial: We need your help in honoring area’s senior athletes

Albert Lea Tribune reporters were gearing up for our regular Spring Sports Yearbook when restrictions were put in place to suspend high school activities and athletic events indefinitely as a means to curb the spread of the new coronavirus.
While the Sports Yearbook typically previews the various varsity sports seasons for each school in our coverage area, we are now shifting gears a bit because of the uncertainty on whether these spring seasons will take place.
We need your help.
To recognize all of the hard work of the area’s senior student athletes, we are reaching out to booster clubs, families and others to help put us in contact with these individuals. We would like to ask each of them a question, so we can highlight them for their hard work over their high school career.
Schools included are Albert Lea Area Schools, Glenville-Emmons School, Alden-Conger School, United South Central School, NRHEG School, Lake Mills Community School and Northwood-Kensett School.
Many of these student athletes have promising futures, and we hope they can be recognized for their growth and success.
Please contact sports writer Tyler Julson at tyler.julson@albertleatribune.com or 379-3434 if you have a means of connecting with students. Because of rules currently in place, we are unable to reach out to coaches to do so at this time.
We are hoping to reach out to all of the students over the next few weeks.
