One garage was a total loss and another was damaged in a fire Thursday morning on Lee Avenue.

Albert Lea firefighters and police officers were dispatched to a report of a fully engulfed garage at 4:08 a.m. Thursday at 1442 Lee Ave. The fire was reported by a neighbor, according to a press release from the Albert Lea Fire Department.

When firefighters and officers arrived, they found a detached garage and shed fully engulfed, and firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and protect a neighbor’s garage due to proximity.

The neighbor’s garage to the south sustained damage to the siding on the north side, but the fire did not make its way into the garage.

The garage at 1442 Lee Ave. was a total loss with contents. Damage was estimated at $22,000.

The release stated the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to assist the Albert Lea Fire Department with the investigation. The fire is presently undetermined due to the severity of damage.
