Two people were injured Sunday afternoon when a snowplow and car collided on Interstate 35 south of Albert Lea.
Alexandra Rae Lapearl, 21, of Spring Valley, and Trevor Michael Faris, 21, of Hopkins, were taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The State Patrol report indicates Lapearl was driving a 2008 Honda Accord northbound on Interstate 35 at 4:51 p.m. when her car collided with a 2011 International plow, driven by Casey Lee Freden, 28, of Albert Lea.
Freden and two of Lapearl’s passengers, Jake Douglas Hackbarth, 20, of Chaska, and Madison Claire Storm, 20, of Chanhassen, were not injured.
The report stated roads were snow and ice-covered at the time of the crash.
All occupants were wearing their seat belts and alcohol was not a factor.
The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Albert Lea Fire Department and Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.
