Lois Lau was born Oct. 22, 1935, to Clarence and Sena (Hauge) Flatness in Albert Lea. She grew up in rural Glenville and graduated from Albert Lea High School.
On June 16, 1953, Lois was united in marriage to Archie Lau. The couple had four children and the family made their home in Albert Lea.
Before retiring, she worked as a beauty school teacher, a beautician and a home health aide. She also served as a hospice volunteer.
Lois passed away Friday, April 10, 2020, having lived to reach the age of 84 years.
Lois was a lifelong member of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, and was a member of circle as well as the alter guild. She loved God and knew the Bible well. She was a member of the Lois Cub and was active in 4-H as her children were growing up. Lois was a great cook and was known for her buns and pickles. She loved gardening and growing and canning vegetables so they would last the winter, as well as growing flowers — especially gladiolas. Lois loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply and often used her skills of sewing and quilting to make quilts for them and others. Lois also enjoyed being a winter Texan. She and Archie lived in Fiesta, Texas, for 30 years, making several lifelong friends.
