We’ve all heard the saying “gratitude is all about attitude.”

“An attitude of gratitude means making it a habit to express thankfulness and appreciation in all parts of your life on a regular basis, for both the big and small things alike.” — Lewis Howes, “The School of Greatness”

“When Joshua Kaufman survived Hitler’s brutal concentration camp in Dachau, he had only one wish: he wanted to thank one of the United States soldiers who had liberated him. Joshua waited 70 years for that moment.

“The elderly Daniel Gillespie was making his way across the street. The soldier who had entered Dachau as a strong, young man to set Joshua free now moved slowly, carefully navigating his walker over the pavement. When the two men drew close, Joshua saluted Daniel, took his hand and kissed it, and then kissed him on the cheek.

“Joshua’s voice was choked with emotion as he addressed the man who had freed him so long ago.

“‘Then I didn’t have the strength to kiss your feet,’ he said to Daniel. ‘I was too weak. I will do it now.’

“Joshua carefully moved Daniel’s walker to the side so that he could drop to his knees and kiss the tops of Daniel’s shoes.” — “The Liberators: Why We Fought” by Sheila Walsh

“Gratitude is a tremendous force. Our gratitude to God invites him into our lives to frame even our deepest wounds in the grace of Christ. Gratitude opens doors that lead us out of bitterness and into joy.” — Sheila Walsh

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4 NIV.

“Gratitude can’t occupy the same area of space in your heart as complaining. The truth that emerges from the center of you, from the core of your being, is revealed to you by the One who chose you, and this is worth celebrating. You’re possessed by God; you’re surrendered and blessed. As His loved child you possess all things. It’s time to be grateful. Look for small things to celebrate.” — Marie Chapian’s “Quiet Prayer”

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High.” Psalm 92:1, NLT

“O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good; for his mercy endureth forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34, KJV

On the tough days, in the hard circumstances, when life has you down focus on gratitude. It does change one’s attitude!
