Daily COVID-19 update: Additional new cases reported in area counties
Three new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in Freeborn County on Friday, bringing the county’s total cumulative case count to 265.
The new cases included a person in their 20s, one in their 40s and one in their 70s, according to the Freeborn County Public Health Department.
Twelve more people are out of isolation, bringing the total out of isolation to 244 people.
Seven people remain hospitalized.
The Minnesota Department of Health reported 20 new cases were reported in Mower County, increasing the county’s total count to 868.
Faribault County had three new cases, Steele County had two new cases and Waseca County had five, raising the totals to 44, 209 and 51, respectively.
Statewide, there were 498 new cases on Friday, raising the total positive cumulative cases to 34,616.
Of that number, 30,008 are out of isolation.
The department stated five new deaths were reported in Dakota and Hennepin counties, all of which were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.
The new deaths raised that state’s total deaths to 1,411. Of the total deaths, 1,112 were residents in long-term care or assisted living facilities.
The department stated 335 people remain hospitalized, including 157 in intensive care.
