Daily COVID-19 update: New cases reported in area counties
Freeborn County saw only one new lab-confirmed COVID-19 case on Tuesday, according to the daily update provided by the Minnesota Department of Health.
The new case was a person in their 50s, the Freeborn County Public Health Department said. The county’s total positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic is 259.
The department said 19 Freeborn County residents have been hospitalized at some point during their illness, and five remain hospitalized at this time.
Four more people are out of isolation and recovering from their illness, bringing the total out of isolation to 229.
Eleven new cases were reported in Mower County, increasing that county’s total cumulative cases to 813.
Faribault County had two new cases, Steele County had one and Waseca County had three.
Across the state, 245 new cases were reported, increasing the state’s total cumulative cases to 33,469. Of that number, 29,399 were out of isolation.
The state had nine new COVID-19 deaths from Dakota, Goodhue, Hennepin, Ramsey and Wright counties. Of the nine deaths, six were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.
The total deaths across the state is 1,393.
The state health department said 339 people remain hospitalized as of today, including 158 in intensive care.
