Daily COVID-19 update: No new cases in Freeborn County; 1 more hospitalized

No new COVID-19 cases were reported in Freeborn County on Wednesday, according to the daily update from the Minnesota Department of Health.

The county’s total cases since the beginning of pandemic remains at 259.

The Freeborn County Public Health Department stated 20 county residents have now been hospitalized at some point during their illness, and six are currently hospitalized.

Of the county’s total cases, 231 people are out of isolation.

The department reported Faribault County also had no new cases, and remains at 35 cumulative cases.

Mower County had 15 new cases, Steele County had three and Waseca County had one, pushing their numbers to 828, 202 and 45, respectively.

Statewide, 304 new cases were reported, increasing the state’s total positive cumulative cases to 33,763. Of that number 29,707 no longer need to be in isolation.

The department reported five new deaths across the state in Hennepin, Ramsey and Washington counties. Two of the new deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. The total deaths from the virus is 1,397, with 1,102 of those deaths being residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.

The department stated 340 people remain hospitalized as of today, including 160 in intensive care.
