A rally demanding justice for George Floyd will take place Tuesday outside the Freeborn County courthouse, 411 S. Broadway in Albert Lea, according to a press release. The event begins at 5 p.m. and intends to bring people from all walks of life together as the community struggles to deal with the anger, confusion and hurt caused by George Floyd’s death while in policy custody last week.
Organizers said they have planned a family-friendly event with members of the Albert Lea Police Department participating.
“As we rally in protest of the wrongful death of George Floyd, we need to address broader issues surrounding police brutality and racism,” said event organizer Hannah Goodemann in the release. “We encourage everyone to peacefully join us in making our voices heard.”
