City of Albert Lea named one of the ‘Best Places to Work’ in southeast Minnesota

The city of Albert Lea has been named one of the 2020 Best Places to Work in southeast Minnesota in a commissioned study by Workforce Development Inc.
The purpose of the program is to recognize some of the best employers in the area and provide information to companies about the practices they use to attract and retain employees, according to a press release.
The city was one of 12 employers to be recognized representing Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele and Wabasha counties.

Mid-size employer
• Austin Utilities

• Cooperative Response Center

Large employer
• Benike Construction
• Mower County
• Olmsted County
• Pace Dairy Foods
Each employer participating was required to complete a 40-question survey that allowed their employment practices to be analyzed by the consulting firm of Personnel Dynamics Consulting of Florida.
Some of the data measured were turnover, rate of growth, promotion rates, employee evaluations and feedback, percentage of employee injured, diversity of management, benefits offered, training expenditures, paid days off and increase in pay.
Every employer participating in the survey will receive a detailed 20-page report detailing the information on their company and the results of the survey.
This is the 10th year Workforce Development Inc. has brought the Best Places to Work program to southeast Minnesota.
