Administrator’s Corner by John Double

As we enter winter break this year, we reflect both on what we experienced in 2023 and look forward to what is possible in 2024. This past year saw some great opportunities and additions to the programming Community Education and our school district provided for our community. Community Education offered over 1,100 class offerings and had almost 7,600 registrations for classes. Our School District Project Exploration offered student opportunities after school, over breaks and during the summer.

As we look forward for our youngest learners and preparing them for school, we have early childhood screening sessions scheduled for Feb. 29 and May 9.

Please contact 379-4838 for more information and to sign up. We also have both preschool screening and kindergarten registration occurring on Feb. 22, Feb. 26 and April 23. Please watch for more information to come out after the new year.

Adult learners have many new options for the upcoming year to assist in meeting your New Year’s resolutions. Our Adult Education Center is offering citizenship and career classes starting in January. Whether classes on fitness and cooking, activities and daytime adventure trips, and adult enrichment opportunities meet your interests, please take a look at our new Winter/Spring book being mailed the last week in December or see it live on our district website.

Our youth learners can look forward to our School District Project Exploration classes continuing to rotate through the schools for after school programming and watch for activities over spring break in March. Some new opportunities are also slated for future programming. Our Driver Education program will continue to teach our newest drivers as they learn the skills to share the road with our community.

We are excited as we look to 2024 and all it holds for our learners regardless of their age. Enjoy your winter break and we look forward to continuing to Gather, Discover and Grow together in the upcoming year.
