In the final meet before Christmas break, the fourth-ranked Lake Mills wrestling team defeated sixth-ranked West Hancock, 48-30.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 18-3 lead by winning three of the first four matches. West Hancock bounced back and cut the lead to 24-21 before Lake Mills won four of the last six bouts to put the meet away.

“It was nice to get a big win to end the first half of the season,” said coach Alex Brandenburg. “Our team has positioned itself well in the state rankings by beating several ranked teams, which helps our chances of making a run at state duals.”

During the evening, Lake Mills also defeated host Northwood-Kensett, 66-9. The team enters break with a 12-3 dual record, including six wins over ranked opponents.
