Mayo Clinic Health System on Thursday announced plans to move services from its HealthReach campus to the main Albert Lea hospital campus in 2024.
Eric Crockett, regional chair of administration with Mayo Clinic Health System in southeast Minnesota, said that includes dialysis, hospice and therapy services.
He said the health system is making several updates to both the Albert Lea and Austin hospital campuses that are focused on improving experiences and connections for patients and staff.
“We are attempting to bring as many services on campus to make the experience easier for patients and their families,” said Rick Thiesse, senior specialist in Mayo’s Communications Department.
In addition to moving the services at Albert Lea’s HealthReach campus, the health system in Austin recently relocated the Austin Crime Victims Resource Center, Fountain Centers chemical dependency program and the hospice department from the AMC West building to the main Austin hospital campus.
Both the Austin and Albert Lea properties are for sale.
Thiesse said it has not officially been determined where or in how much space on the Albert Lea campus the HealthReach services will be relocated, and noted that the decision will be part of the health system’s long-term planning.
HealthReach, at 1705 S.E. Broadway, has been in Albert Lea since 1989, serving the community as an outpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation facility. It previously boasted 52,000 square feet, housing comprehensive exercise equipment as well as a therapeutic pool and walking track.
Thiesse said the pool permanently closed in October due to facility and mechanical issues.
The health system in February 2022 demolished the west portion of the building with the track due to age and deteriorating conditions.
