Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” — 1 Peter 2:2-3 (NIV)
Since my surgery, my tummy has not approved of soft solids; aka, pudding and mashed potato- thus I am sustaining on water and broth.
As I write I am in week two of this glorious diet. Thankfully I have the body weight to allow this. According to Medical News Today, at 5 feet 1 inch I should ideally be 100-127 pounds — that I am not! Maybe a big leap, but this is how my brain works. This made me ponder, I know I am adept of weight loss, without my current situation, so I am capable but am I committed? Do I crave what is best for me, not just in weight but in my life?
“There once was a pastor who availed himself to adult magazines when his wife wasn’t around. He knew what he was doing wasn’t right, of course, but he did it anyways. His wife left for a few days’ trip, and once she was gone from their apartment, he brought out his magazines from hiding.
Later, he was so frustrated with himself and his continuing addiction that he decided, once and for all, to throw the magazines away. He took loads of them to the dumpster, which sat at the base of their apartment’s stairwell, and got rid of them.
He later decided he wanted them back. His wife was to arrive soon, and the trash hadn’t been collected, so he returned quickly to the dumpster. Struggling, he leaned over the side to reach the magazines, lost his balance, and fell inside, breaking his arm. He couldn’t get out. It was just him. A pastor, trapped with his magazines … bleating for help in a dumpster; and that’s where his wife found him.” — “Unoffendable” by Brant Hansen
“God wants us to be spiritually strong and has provided us with every resource we need.
We need God’s strength to face life’s challenges — and He wants to give it to us.” — “Peace for Each Day” by Billy Graham
It comes down to a heart condition.
“The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust Him with all my heart.” — Psalm 28:7a (NLT)
It’s time to crave God’s best.
