The Albert Lea High School girls hockey team welcomed Austin to the familiar confines of Albert Lea City Arena on Thursday evening, and a game that was a 14-0 rout on the ice turned out to be a night of historic significance for two Albert Lea players.
Junior defenseman Mika Cichosz and freshman forward Morgan Goskeson both hit the 100-point mark for their high school careers during the game, becoming the first Tigers since Hannah Savelkoul in the 2015-16 campaign to reach that milestone.
Cichosz, a Minnesota State commit, took care of business early, scoring the first of her two goals late in the first period to notch her 100th career point. She would also add two assists to finish with four points on the evening.
Goskeson took a different approach, notching her 100th point with 42 seconds to go on her fifth goal of the game, with an assist to Hanna Austinson.
Austinson notched assists on four of the five Goskeson tallies. Goskeson has been on fire, with 12 goals in the past three games and leads Albert Lea with 27 on the season.
Junior Shelby Evans recorded three goals for the Tigers, while Zizi Willett, Jordan Habana, Calleigh Noble, and Sydney Kolker all chipped in with a goal apiece. Goaltender Jayda Moyer stopped 12 shots to post her fifth shutout of the season in the victory, which moves Albert Lea to 15-3 on the season.
The Tigers will honor their seniors on Senior Night against Rochester Mayo on Saturday evening at 7:15 at City Arena in Albert Lea.
