The Albert Lea Art Center will host an open house on Sunday to celebrate the opening of its annual All-Member Show.
This year’s exhibition features 25 artists with over 60 pieces, including five new member artists: Steve Bottelson, Cathy Studier, Charlie Graham, Marian Clennon and Clayton Johnson.
Graham’s work is becoming more known in Albert Lea as two of his pieces are on display as part of the new Sculpture Walk for the Art Walk Albert Lea initiative— one at the top of Fountain Lake Park and the other at Edgewater Park.
“It’s fun to see the membership and what they’ve been working on all year,” said Beth Tostensen, artistic director. “We always look forward to them bringing in their art.”
The show is traditionally the first of the year and is always held in January.
Tostensen said the number of art pieces in this year’s show is similar to previous years, with maybe slightly more this year, including what she described as some beautiful wood art.
In addition, there’s everything from water and acrylic paintings, pen and ink, photography, pottery and more.
The open house will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at 101 S. Broadway.
