Top of Iowa Conference wrestling teams converged on Osage Saturday for their annual tournament. Of the 15 teams, Lake Mills finished 3rd.

Osage was the 2024 TIC champion while Nashua-Plainfield finished runner-up.

“It was a very competitive tournament today with a lot of exciting matches throughout,” said Lake Mills coach Alex Brandenburg. “Overall, I think we could have wrestled better as a team, but there were also some high points.”

Two Bulldog juniors wrestled their way to TIC championships. Lucas Oldenkamp won his first TIC title by picking up a dominating 16-0 win in the 106-pound finals. Hayden Helgeson won his second conference title by getting a takedown in the final seconds of the match to win 4-2.

Landon Price and Steve Brandenburg also made the finals but fell to the second-ranked and first-ranked wrestlers in the state, respectively.

“It was great to have two champions in such a tough tournament,” Brandenburg said. “Our two second-place finishers each had big wins in the semis to make the finals.”

Eleven wrestlers placed in their weight classes for the Bulldogs, which helped lead to placing third.
