Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and Austin and Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing are being recognized for outstanding achievement in attaining recognition as a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. This recognition is granted to health care facilities that demonstrate expertise and commitment in providing high-quality maternity care services safely and effectively, according to a press release.

To achieve recognition as a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care, health care facilities must meet specific criteria established by the association. These criteria encompass:

• Clinical quality
• Expertise and experience
• Maternity care practices
• Patient safety and satisfaction
• Efficiency and cost-effectiveness
