5 things to do this week: Carnival, soup supper and more

St. Casimir’s School carnival

This Thursday, St. Casimir’s School in Wells will have a free carnival for children ages 3 to 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The event will be held in the school gym. There will be games, prizes and lots of fun.

Soup supper, chili cookoff and silent auction

The Emmons Sons of the American Legion will host a freewill donation soup supper, chili cookoff and silent auction from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Bring a crockpot of your best chili recipe by 5 p.m. and enter the contest. There is a $5 entry fee, and everyone has the chance to sample the chili and vote. There will be a prize for the first-place winner. Silent auction donations will be accepted until the day of the event.

Mardi Gras celebration 

The Nasty Habit bar will have its annual Mardi Gras celebration on Saturday. There will be food and drink specials throughout the day along with raffles and giveaways. There will be a DJ at 10 p.m.

Sock Monkey Day

Thursday is National Sock Monkey Day. Bring your sock monkey to the Freeborn County Historical Museum, Library and Village for free admission. Pick up a Sock Monkey paper doll sheet while you’re there and learn more about the history of the iconic toy.

Worth County Fence Stretchers annual pizza and bowling party

This Sunday the Worth County Fence Stretchers will have their annual pizza and bowling party at Strike Zone in Northwood at 3 p.m.
