Administrator’s Corner by John Double
Over Spring Break, the Swim, Skate, Climb opportunity for students was provided by the collaboration of Albert Lea Area Schools, city of Albert Lea Parks & Recreation Department and Albert Lea Family Y through our school district’s Project Exploration. This federal grant opportunity has brought many exciting activities to our students year round. We continue to have activities this spring and even more opportunities this summer. Look for the Terrific Traveling Trailers in the city parks again this year.
This summer we will again have camps for different sports and activities as well as Driver Education continuing to work with our future drivers. The Rock Gym will continue to be open Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays with new routes to enjoy. The Boathouse opens in June bringing the enjoyment of being on the lake in our wonderful summer weather. Make sure to watch for the summer booklet from Community Education in May with opportunities for all ages.
Community Education continues to offer daytime adventure trips with some exciting new opportunities and returning favorites. In May, we still have room both for the St. Paul Saints baseball game and the guided tour of the Twin Cities. In June, we will travel to the Arboretum to explore the beautiful flowers and landscaping. In August, we will again offer the daytime adventure to the State Fair as well.
Our Early Learning programs will also have summer offerings for our youngest learners to continue growing to their full potential. If you are interested in some of the spring or upcoming summer opportunities, please contact the Early Learning office and we can get you signed up. Also remember to join us for the ECFE 50th anniversary celebration on April 11.
Registration for our spring classes is open now and our summer class registration will open on May 6. Watch for the summer book to be in your mailboxes in mid-May. We look forward to more occasions to gather, discover and grow together as our community continues on our path of lifelong learning.
