Update (6:45 a.m. Friday): 

One person died Thursday night after a crash involving a semi and pickup on Interstate 90 near Albert Lea.

The Minnesota State Patrol is expected to release more information about the individual later Friday, according to its website. It lists the person as a 54-year-old man from Buffalo Center, Iowa, who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado.

Information about how the crash took place has not yet been released.

The report states the State Patrol continues to investigate the crash, which took place at 8:11 p.m. Further information will be posted when it is available.

The 2001 Freightiner semi driver is listed as Melisa Ann Keiser, 60, of Enid, Oklahoma. She was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for injuries deemed not life-threatening.

Roads were listed as snowy and icy at the time of the crash.

The State Patrol closed the interstate after the crash occurred to investigate.

Update:

Interstate 90 has reopened to motorists.

Original story (10:14 p.m. Thursday):

Interstate 90 west of Albert Lea is closed for a crash investigation, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation website.

The website 511mn.org states the road is closed about three to four miles west of Albert Lea between Minnesota Highway 13 and exit 146.

A detour is planned to be in place until about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

As of 10 p.m., multiple vehicle spin outs and crashes were reported on interstates  35 and 90.
