Albert Lea city clerk elected to leadership position in statewide clerk’s association

Daphney Maras, city clerk for the city of Albert Lea, has been elected to the position of secretary for the Municipal Clerks & Finance Officers Association of Minnesota (MCFOA) for 2024-25.
The election was held during the association’s annual meeting on March 21.
Maras has served the association on several different committees since 2020, including Region VI director from 2020-2023 and treasurer from 2023-24.
The MCFOA was established in 1937 to promote professional standards for city clerks and finance officers. Today, the association is 900-plus member strong and provides educational and networking opportunities through regional meetings, its annual conference and continuing education workshops for its certification program.
Maras has been employed by the city of Albert Lea since 1998. She earned the designation of MCMC (Minnesota Certified Municipal Clerk) from the MCFOA in 2018. She also holds the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), which she earned in 2019.
