Henrietta Lysne

Henrietta June Lysne, 88, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024.
Henrietta was born to John and Lydia (VanWilgen) Waalkens Jr. on June 16, 1935. She attended McDonald’s Country School (north of Hollandale). After they moved to rural Austin, she then finished 8th grade at Nelson Country School. She then attended Austin High School. While living at home she taught herself how to weld, which came in handy living on a farm.
She was united in marriage to Maurice Lysne on February 20, 1953 during a snow storm. The bride and groom along with the wedding party and any guest that made it to the wedding ended up spending the night at the church. Their union was blessed with five children.
Henrietta became a member of the Oakland Lutheran Church after her wedding to Maurice. She was a Sunday School Superintendent, sang in the Senior choir and she was a member of the Elizabeth Circle then WELCA. She was a homemaker and a very good cook. She also helped her husband on the farm, milking cows, feeding the animals, field work and running errands. After the children were grown, she worked at Kepple’s Machinery in Hayward, MN then Jens Sales in Manchester, MN until she retired.
Henrietta is survived by her children; Violet (Wayne) Kearns of Byron MN, Pam (Ron) Vokoun of Albert Lea MN, Darwin (Barb) Lysne of Albert Lea MN and Angela (Gerry) Cecci of Wesley Chapel Florida. Grandchildren, Aaron Kearns, Jason (Tanya Hays) Kearns, Adam (Carrie) Kearns, Theresa Vokoun, Tim Vokoun, Amy Lysne, Dan Lysne and Dustin Goskeson; 12 great grandchildren. Sisters and brothers-in-law: Min (Paul) Westland, Kath (Mike) Heffron, Dawn (Tim) Horst. Sister; Helen Johnson, sister-in-law; Grace Skaar, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Lou (Steph) Larson and many nieces and nephews.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband; Maurice Lysne, her son; Mark Lysne, granddaughter; Tami Vokoun. Her parents; John & Lydia Waalkens, Jr., father and mother-in-law; Martin & Marvyle Lysne, sister; Sal Larson, sisters-in-laws; Doris Wayne, Rachel Lysne, Ruby Armstrong, brothers-in-law; Roger Johnson, Jerry Skaar, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Marjorie (Palmer) Thompson, Edith (Johnny) Guritz, Rebecca (Charles) Medd, Alice (Al) Friedrich, Sarah (Harold) Lunde, aunts, uncles and nephews and niece
Henrietta’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Oakland Lutheran Church 22042 850th Ave Albert Lea MN 56007 at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to service.
