No child comes into this world to be abused. Unfortunately, we know that many children are abused on a daily basis. In our world, we all should work to prevent this unacceptable behavior. In 1979, the National Exchange Club service club adopted the Prevention of Child Abuse as a national project. Part of the work of this project is to increase the awareness of child abuse and how it can be prevented. While April is designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month, the prevention/elimination of child abuse needs to be a daily practice. If anyone suspects that a child is being abused, please let a law enforcement official or trained social workers know so that help may be provided and hopefully eliminate the abuse. Instead of abuse, please give your children/grandchildren daily hugs and encouragement, and definitely tell them that they are loved. If we all practice this on a daily basis, maybe the need for the prevention of child abuse will be something of the past. It should not hurt to be a child.
