Marvel was born June 11, 1933 to Adolph and Frieda (Yost) Johnson in Albert Lea. She attended Emmons High School and after graduating, began her career working at the Montgomery ward. She was married to Vernon Dockwell on June 19, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran church. Together they had Robert, Debra, Brian, and Robin. After Vernon passed away on January 25, 1975, Marvel took up the challenge of raising her children alone, demonstrating tremendous strength and resilience. She began working at the Albert Lea Tribune for a while before changing to work at Fleetguard until her retirement.
Marvel loved babysitting her grandkids, often joking with them about her puffy knees and telling them stories of her growing up. Although she loved cooking and baking, every meal she served her grandkids was Schwan’s or TV dinners. She was never afraid to speak her mind and had a stubborn streak a mile long.
She is preceded in death by her husband Vernon, parents Adolph and Frieda, sister Delores Twito, and her son Robert.
She is survived by her daughter Debra (Jerry) Sipple, son Brian (Jonna) Dockwell, daughter Robin (Greg) Witham, grandchildren Kevin Witham, Stephanie Myers, Brandy Dockwell, Daniel Dockwell, Crystal Dockwell, Allen Dockwell, Zac (Brittany) Oquist, Tessa (Shannon) Mclean, Shelby (Antonio) Lugo, Ben (Kelsey) Witham, Joey (Kylie) Witham, Sam (Abby) Witham, great grandchildren Kaden (Annie) Sipple, Kyler (Raine) Sipple, Taylor Sipple, Aida Dockwell, Yeilen Lugo, Vienna Lugo, Makael Lugo, Rylan Oquist, Luella Oquist and Braxton Oquist; and several nieces and nephews.
