Terry Brian Thorson

Terry Brian Thorson passed away 4/26/24 at Bethany Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Brainerd MN.
Terry was born 11/16/1944 in Albert Lea, MN, the fifth child of Orville and Bessie (Salley) Thorson. He grew up on his parent’s farm in Keister MN, graduating from that Kiester High school and then attended Austin Junior College for Autobody. Terry served in the US Army during the Vietnam war, stationed in South Korea. Terry rose to the rank of Sergeant E5 and received recognition for marksmanship. Terry had a friendly personality, was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed bowling and golf.
Terry worked for CARQUEST Auto Parts in Brainerd MN for 20 years. Terry was also a very talented musician, who played the drums and sang both lead and harmony in three octaves. During his career he was a professional musician in Nashville TN, but for most of his life he played with local MN bands.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Alan Thorson (Lorraine Chalgren), sisters Virginia (Wilbur Willis) and Diane (Leon Larson), and first wife Lavonne Erickson.
He is survived by his sons Jeff Thorson (Cathy Isder) and Ben Thorson (Emily Zamora), brothers Wayne, Neil, J.B. Thorson (Deb Henry), his second ex-wife Betsy Thorson, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Terry has donated his body to the University of MN Anatomy Bequest Program for medical research. Condolences can be sent in care of 14986 River Arches, Brainerd MN 56401.
