Riverland Theatre will close out its 2023-24 season with the musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” based on the comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schultz.
With charm, wit and heart, “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” explores life through the eyes of Charlie Brown and his friends in the Peanuts gang as they play baseball, struggle with homework, sing songs, swoon over their crushes and celebrate the joy of friendship. Full of memorable songs and iconic moments from the classic Peanuts comic strip, this charming show is sure to delight audiences of all ages. The show features book, music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, with additional dialogue by Michael Mayer and additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa.
Lindsey Duoos Williams directs. John Deyo is the technical director and set designer. Brian Johnson is the musical director. Marny Rohr is the choreographer. Jannel Howard stage manages. CJ Schultz is the lighting designer. Costume design is by Jennifer Wiebrand, Carley Carranza and Emma Judy. “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” features Ethan Brandy (Snoopy), Maggie Bremner (Charlie Brown), Lucy Burns (Ensemble), Kaiah Gibson (Sally), Paitru Htoo (Ensemble), Melissa Meouchy (Ensemble), Adrian Ojambo (Ensemble), Tehya Orr (Lucy), Celeste Rose (Schroeder), Caden Strampe (Linus), Jocelyn Voth (Ensemble) and Hannah Zerke (Ensemble).
“’You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’ is a feel-good show that truly the whole family can enjoy,” Williams said. “Young children will be engaged by the physical comedy and catchy songs, but the humor is still sophisticated enough for adults to appreciate. And of course, who doesn’t love the iconic Peanuts characters? The show contains many scenes that will be instantly recognizable to fans of Charles M. Schultz’s work, though previous knowledge of Peanuts is certainly not necessary. I think this show has been such an enduring favorite because it is so relatable — we all know, or perhaps have once been ourselves, a Lucy, Linus, Schroeder or Charlie Brown.”
