Summary of School Board Minutes

The School Board of Independent School District 241 met in a study session on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Room at Brookside Education Center, 211 West Richway Drive, Albert Lea, MN. School Board members present: Kim Nelson, Gary Schindler, Bruce Olson, Neal Skaar, Angie Hoffman, Dave Klatt, and Davy Villarreal. Administrator present Superintendent Ron Wagner.

• Motion to approve the agenda, but requested that Study Session items 5.1 and 5.2 be moved before Action Items 4.1-4.3. Motion carried 7-0
• Ron Wagner and Jennifer Walsh presented the 24-25 Budgets Adjustments
• Jeff Halverson presented a recap of the SE MN Welding Competition
• Motion to approve the Modifications to the 24-25 School Year Calendar. In favor: Olson, Skaar, Schindler, and Nelson, against Villarreal, Klatt, and Hoffman. Motion carried 4-3
• Motion to approve the Discontinuing and Reducing Educational Programs and Positions. In favor: Olson, Klatt, Skaar, Hoffman, Schindler, and Nelson, against Villarreal. Motion carried 6-1
• Motion to approve the Resolution Placing Licensed Staff Member on Unrequested Leave of Absence. In favor: Olson, Skaar, Schindler, and Nelson, against Villarreal, Klatt and Hoffman. Motion carried 4-3
