With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Arnold E. Thrond, a kind and thoughtful soul, who departed from this world on May 14, 2024.

Arnold Thrond

Arnold was born on May 13, 1931 to Anders and Emma (Nicholson) Thrond in Silver Lake Township in Worth County. Growing up on the family farm, Arnold learned early in life the skills he would need to be a farmer. He married Beverly Peterson in 1952 and they raised five sons. Arnold enjoyed teaching Sunday School and serving on church councils. His love for cultivating the earth, traveling and fishing reflected his gentle and nurturing spirit. As a dedicated farmer and truck driver Arnold found fulfillment in his work and took pride in providing for his family.

He is survived by his sons Paul (Jessica) Thrond of Licking, MO, Steven (Mary) Thrond of Walters, Randy (Tina) Thrond of Kiester, daughter-in-law Paty Thrond of Emmons; grandchildren Ashley (Mark) Sinniah of Roseville, Lauren (Cody) Nelson of Wells, Elizabeth (Jon) Cisar of Sioux Falls, Erin (Matt) Sweet of Otsego and Casey Thrond of Zimmerman; great-grandsons Leon and Camron Sinniah, Anders Nelson and Winston Sweet; brothers Truman (Barbara) Thrond of Albert Lea, Dale (Kathy) Thrond of Northwood; and companion Darlene Anderson of Blue Earth and her family.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents Anders and Emma, sons David and Bruce Thrond, and sister and brother-in-law Margie and Max Brones.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the public visitation at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service on May 23, 2024 from 5pm-7pm. A funeral service will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester on May 24 at 11am to commemorate Arnold’s life and cherish the memories he leaves behind.
