Bernard “Randy” Morkrid

Bernard Randall Morkrid, (67) passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024, with his wife and family by his side at the St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN.
Born February 21st, 1957, to Bernard and Carol Morkrid, Bernard lived his rambunctious young life in El Centro, CA with his only sibling Kim. He attended Central Union High School in El Centro, CA and then studied at Imperial Valley College.
He married the love of his life, Linda Garin Morkrid on July 16, 1977, in El Centro, CA. The young high school sweethearts made their home in Salinas, CA and later moved to Albert Lea, MN. Married for 47 years, but together for 52; they raised three children and have seven grandchildren that call him papa which were his world, loving them more than he ever imagined possible. He was employed at ACE Hardware in Albert Lea, MN before retiring.
Bernard was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he also will be remembered for his sense of humor and ability to make a joke out of everything. He was considered the life of the party, making him a joy to be around and will be deeply missed by all. Bernard was always there to help friends and family. He enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking, was passionate about stock car racing and watching any other race he could on tv and playing with his dog Lucy.
Bernard is survived by his wife, Linda Morkrid; son Bernard (Miyeon) E. Morkrid; daughter Danielle (Alan) Anderson; son Michael (Julie) Morkrid; grandchildren Adrian, Destiny, Faith, Devin, Maddee, Jared, and Eugene; and sister Kimberly (Bill) Mclaren.
Bernard is preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Carol Morkrid; and daughter Dawn Morkrid.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
