Gary Alvin Siemer, 73, of Elgin, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at White Pines Memory Care in Cottage Grove, MN. He was born on April 7, 1951, in Marshall, MN to Alvin and Elizabeth (Anthony) Siemer. His family moved to Albert Lea, MN where he graduated from Albert Lea Senior High School in 1969. In 1978, he moved to Elgin, MN.

Gary began his career as a traveling salesman for a sporting goods company and later became a terminal manager and sales rep for Murphy Motor Freight, Carolina Freight, and LME Freight trucking companies. He later purchased Master Cleaners, a carpet cleaning business which he operated until retirement.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman, hunting deer, pheasants, ducks, moose, and elk. He enjoyed fly-in-fishing trips to Canada and was a member of the Elgin Lions Club.

Gary is survived by his three children, Jesse (Amy) Siemer of Elgin, Matthew (Angie) Siemer of Cottage Grove, and Christina Siemer of Woodbury; 8 grandchildren; and a sister, Gerry (Jerry) Vogt of Albert Lea. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Quentin, a sister Clarice, and Diann Olson, of Rochester with whom he had a long, loving relationship.

A Celebration of Life for Gary will be held at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, on Thursday, May 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
