Gladys Alida Reindal, 98, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family in Roseville, MN on Friday, May 17, 2024. A funeral service will be held at Noon on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Mansfield Lutheran Church, Mansfield, MN. Visitation will be held starting at 10am prior to the service at the church. Gladys was born on April 26, 1926, to Gustav and Olga (Erickson) Hanson in Emmons, MN. Her parents later moved to a farm home close to Albert Lea, MN. Gladys went to a country school located on her parents’ farmland and attended Albert Lea High School. She grew up on the farm, helping her dad with farm chores and fieldwork.
On June 2, 1946, Gladys married Owen Reindal at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. Owen and Gladys farmed together for many years, taking care of animals, such as cattle, hogs, and chickens, and working in the fields with the crops. Gladys always had flower and vegetable gardens, but flowers were her favorite. She was an excellent cook and loved baking Christmas cookies and making lefse for the holidays. She enjoyed traveling to different places around the world, including special trips to Hawaii and Norway.
Owen and Gladys were blessed to have six daughters, who brought them so much happiness and love. Six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren further added to their joy. Gladys spent her later years creating numerous photo scrapbooks for all family members. Any time spent with her family was very precious to her.
Gladys is survived by her daughters Sharon (Chuck) Sklader, Nancy Hemmingsen, Linda (Dan) Thompson, Julie (Allan) Flatness, Rosemary Knopff, and Laura Reindal; grandchildren Allison (Jeff) Lembke, Jennifer (Paul Conner) Hemmingsen, Josh (Leah Howard) Sklader, Chris (Sarah Ware) Hemmingsen, Erin (Corey) Cummings, and Leah (Codey) Yost; great-grandchildren Nan Baron, Alex Cummings, Aidan Cummings, Micah Evans, Andrew Cummings, Avery Lembke, Maggie Evans, Layla Yost, Henry Conner, Ava Cummings, and Bennett Conner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Owen Reindal; son-in-law Craig Hemmingsen; parents Gustav and Olga Hanson; sisters and brothers-in-law Nylene and George Wasmoen and Idoris and Stanley Lenz; and parents-in-law Theodore and Martha Reindal.
A special thank you to Christine and Aniyah from C&C Home Care, Fridley, MN for the care and support they provided weekly to Gladys and her family; and to the many nurses and aides at Favoured Hospice, Dayton, MN for providing care and comfort to Gladys allowing her to remain in her home.
