Lake Mills girls were able to automatically qualify four events yesterday evening in St. Ansgar. Those event were high jump (Avery Eastvold), 100-meter dash (Avery Eastvold, 4×200 relay (Brittany Leibeg, Avery Eastvold, Makenzie Budach, Regan Eastvold) and 4×100 relay (Brittany Leibeg, Regan Eastvold, Makenzie Budach, Avery Eastvold). Based on performances the girls were also able to qualify the 400 meter (Cora Sauer), Sprint Medley Relay (Brittany Leibeg, Jacky Gallardo, Regan Eastvold, Natalie Lary) and the Shuttle Hurdle Relay (Alexis Anderson, Cora Sauer, Tori Sterrenberg, Natalie Lary).
This has been the most events qualified in at least the last six years.
After a very disappointing end to the 2023 season, qualifying no events, the mindset in some of the upper class girls and a mix of a very talented freshman group initiated a mission in these girls.
“There have been smiles, tears, laughs and conflict, but these girls have truly grown to love each other and compete for each other, and it has been fun to watch. I am very excited to have one more week of practice and watch some excellent track & field this time next week.”
