EN(dur)ANCE by Robin Gudal
I have a saying hanging on my refrigerator: “Prayer is the most powerful way to influence anyone.” — Quote from a sermon years ago
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” — Colossians 4:2-6, NIV
This past week was the National Day of Prayer. We have such a gift to give to others in the practice of prayer. As I was with others at Wilderness Prayer Center, another “hat” I wear as YFC area director, I was once again reminded to slow down, breath, sit in silence, lift others, myself and my family before the throne of Christ. Lest we never forget there is power in prayer.
“Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men!” — JFK quote by the Rev. Phillips Brooks at the close of his remarks at the 1963 National Prayer Breakfast
“We can change the course of events if we go to our knees in believing prayer.” — Billy Graham
“Prayer is the key to unlocking God’s prevailing power in your life.” — David Jeremiah
“Rejoice always and delight in your faith; be unceasing and persistent in prayer; in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Amplified
“All the world starts changing when the church starts praying. Strongholds start to break. Oh, when we pray, prison walls start shaking. At the sound of praising nothing stays the same. Oh, when we pray, oh. In Jesus’ name (when we pray).” — “When we Pray,” Tauren Wells.
“Our Father which art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” — Matthew 6:9-13, KJV
