Albert Lea received over 7 inches of rain in the last week, leading to flooding throughout the community over the weekend.
According to official readings at the Albert Lea Wastewater Treatment Plant, the city has seen 7.24 inches of rain fall since June 16, with the heaviest amount of rain coming on Saturday with 2.72 inches.
The city has received 9.83 inches of rain throughout the month of June, bringing the annual year-to-date precipitation to 24.09 inches.
The city had been behind on its annual precipitation before June because of low precipitation in January and February.
Brandon Huston, wastewater treatment plant superintendent, said the last time there was a monthly total over 9 inches was in 2013 to 2016. There were over 9 inches of rain in June each year from 2013 to 2015, and in September 2016, the rainfall passed 10 inches.
The average yearly precipitation is 34.41 inches when comparing back to 2008.
