8 things to do at the Freeborn County Fair this week

4-H livestock auction
Freeborn County 4-H members have been working for months to get their livestock ready for the fair. Their hard work will come to fruition at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Jan Reed Livestock Arena at the 4-H livestock auction.

Live music at beer gardens
The Freeborn County Fair is known for its amazing grandstand events, but this year, fairgoers can also listen to live music at the beer garden. Enjoy some drinks and listen to local bands like Papa J Acoustic, Lost in Austin and Bourbon Stiletto.

Senior Citizen of the Year ceremony
Stop over at 1 p.m. Wednesday to enjoy a recognition ceremony of the 2024 Century Farms recipients, the 2024 Outstanding Senior Citizens and the 2024 Ag Hall of Fame Recipients. Each outstanding senior will receive a Minnesota State Fair Outstanding Citizen pin and two tickets to the Minnesota State Fair.

Community church service
Enjoy the fair and church at the same time. Freeborn County Fair offers a community church service at 10 a.m. Sunday morning in the Grandstand. Attendees are welcome to bring fair food to the service. This year’s service will feature Breakthrough Ministries.

Talent show
The fair will hold the talent show at 1 p.m. Sunday at Entertainment Plaza. Cash prizes are given for the top places in each division and the winner heads on to the Minnesota State Fair. See more details about entry in the Freeborn County fair book.

Free fair entry for lunch on SMART bus
Have lunch at the fair with free admission when taking SMART Transit to and from the fairgrounds Wednesday through Friday. Passengers who take the bus to the fair must return on the bus as well. Freeborn County Church Cafe
The Freeborn County Church Cafe will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. It is located in the Fairlane Building.

Entertainment Plaza music
There will be even more live music at Entertainment Plaza throughout fair week. Some of the bands that will play include Full House Band, Ron and Steve Unplugged, Curtis And Loretta and Rockin’ Hep Cats. Check out the full schedule in the Freeborn County Fair book.
