Bonnie Ruth Simon, a beloved wife, sister, friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Cannon Falls on July 2nd, 2024. She was born on June 2nd, 1941 in Owatonna, Minnesota to loving parents Josephine Everett Montei and Frederick Montei, and welcomed by her big brothers Fred and Dick, whom she adored greatly. Her family instilled in her the values of compassion and kindness that she carried with her throughout her life.
Bonnie’s primary joy came from being surrounded by her family. She is survived by her devoted husband Jim; daughter Teri (Mark) and Ryon (Rachelle); Granddaughters Katie (Luke), Kelly (Cory), Jami (Alec), Avangeline Grandsons: James and Sam Ryon Great Grandchildren: Grayson, Everett, Brooks, Adelyn, Conrad, Georgia, Jones, Charlotte, Weston, and Josephine.
Bonnie and Jim will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary this July. For years, Bonnie ran the office at their horse sales and was always a pivotal part of Simon Horse Company. Together, they started their horse trailer business sitting at their kitchen table.
They endured the painful loss of their daughter Jami 31 years ago, but honored her and thought of her daily. Especially since that day, Bonnie had a special place in her heart and extra empathy for anyone going through a hard time. She saved everything sentimental, and always took the time to send notes in the mail to friends and family.
She adorned her home and gardens with angels and the most beautiful flowers imaginable. Her garage was always spotless; everything in her home had a place. Any holiday or gathering hosted by Bonnie was sure to include gorgeous table settings, delicious food, many laughs and her special touches. She loved spending the winters in Florida, especially the endless days with her friends at Bay Harbor. She had a way of making friends everywhere she went. Up until the very end, she loved to feel the sun on her face, even from inside the car on “rides”. Above all else, family was at the center of Bonnie’s life and she deeply valued her role as mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife.
Thank you to the Hospice Care Team: Danyelle, Heidi and Evelyn and to Claire for showing her so much love until the very end.
We will miss you forever and honor you always Bon, Mom, Granny, Gram, Nana. You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten.
