Darlene Mae (Jenner) Rupp, 79, of Albert Lea, passed away on July 3, 2024. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 9 at 11:00 AM at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home with a visitation held one hour prior.
Darlene, daughter of Harry and Helen (Schwartz) Jenner, was born on August 9, 1944 and raised in Albert Lea. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1962. She was united in marriage to Roger Rupp on Aug 25, 1962. Darlene has three children, Randy Swanson and Adrian and Janell Rupp. Darlene did bookkeeping while Roger drove semi.
Darlene was an artist at heart. Her talents included sewing, quilting, and painting all the wooden figures that Roger cut out for her to sell at craft fairs with her sister Barb.
Upon returning to Albert Lea after Roger’s death, Darlene became an exceptional quilter. She was known for her quilting abilities and made more than 100 quilts for family, friends, donations, and gifts. She belonged to many quilting, sewing and embroidery groups. She also volunteered at a local food bank. Most of all, Darlene loved to see her grandchildren and was an avid reader.
Survivors include: son Adrian (Dorothy) of Oracle, Arizona, daughter Janell (Tim) Sechler of Mankato, son Randy Swanson of Cosmos, granddaughters: Breann (Dave) Tierschel, Crystal (Jonathon) Kiel, Jessica Sechler (Adam Olson), and Monica Rupp; sisters Barb Benson and Debra (David) Jenkins, brother William (Sally) Jenner, sister-in-law Marlene Jenner, five great grandchildren Emmett, Ethan, Amelia, Morgan and Clayton, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Roger Rupp, parents Harry and Helen, brother Jim Jenner, brother-in-law Robert Benson, sisters Joyce (Jack) Cassidy and Joan (Dale) Sorenson.
