John Scrabeck

John Scrabeck, age 91, of North Mankato, and formerly of Clarks Grove, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024.
Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m., on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, with visitation one hour prior. Private burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery-Preston. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Prairie River Camp, Bricelyn, MN.
John was born at home in rural Fillmore County. He worked with his dad on his family farm. John served his country at the end of the Korean war and was a still photographer documenting the reclamation of the Korean war. He earned several medals during his service and was discharged with the rank of Corporal. After he returned home, he met his true love Liliah Culbertson and married June 5, 1956.
John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Liliah; children, Kimberly (Joel) Krause, Kevin (Tabor), Mitchell (Chris), Kaylynn (Dan) Holmes, LaMonte (Paula), and John (Abby); 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; siblings, Verna Carter, Paul Scrabeck, Mary Ohm, Charles Scrabeck, Carolyn Weller, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Esther (Sydow) Scrabeck; grandchildren, Derek Scrabeck, and Amanda Holmes; siblings, Laverne Scrabeck, Ruth Lyons, and Esther Scrabeck.
