After being closed for 15 days because of water over the roadway, Main Street in Albert Lea was reopened to motorists Sunday as water has receded.

The city received nearly 12 inches of rain in June, with the largest stretch of rain coming from June 16-23, when the city received 7.24 inches.

The roadway was closed late evening on June 23 and reopened at about 7 a.m. Sunday.

Water was still high in the area around the roadway. Both of the new stormwater ponds on both sides of the street near Hanson Tire were still full.
