Update: State Patrol confirms at least one death in Albert Lea crash

Update: The Minnesota State Patrol has confirmed at least one person has died after a crash at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 13 and West Main Street Monday afternoon.
The State Patrol stated a Peterbilt semi, driven by a 21-year-old man from Lamberton, was traveling southbound on Highway 13, and a 2016 Honda Pilot, driven by an 84-year-old Albert Lea man, was eastbound on Freeborn County Road 46 when the vehicles collided at the intersection.
The crash took place at about 2 p.m.
The Pilot also had an 81-year-old female passenger.
The State Patrol has not released the names of the individuals or their conditions.
The intersection was closed for about three hours after the crash as authorities investigated.
More information is expected to be released Tuesday.
Original story: The Albert Lea Police Department is asking motorists to avoid the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and Minnesota Highway 13 if possible as first responders work at the scene of an injury crash.
Traffic will be detoured.
The crash took place at about 2 p.m. and included a semi and a second vehicle.
The Minnesota State Patrol states the extent of injuries has not yet been determined. Further information will be released when it is available.
