Several area counties are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. Thursday as storms are expected to move into the area.

The watch includes Waseca, Faribault, Freeborn and Steele counties.

Storms are expected to reach Albert Lea between 5 and 7 p.m., with the possibility for severe weather, including heavy downpours, strong winds and possible tornadoes and hail.
