Audrey Wittmer, 89, of Albert Lea, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023, at the St. Johns Lutheran Community. Born on April 2, 1934, in Albert Lea, MN, she was the daughter of the late George and Alma (Fogel) Wittmer and brought light and joy to the lives she touched throughout her journey.
Audrey will be fondly remembered for her zest for life and her passions. One of her greatest joys was casting her line and reeling in the big catch while fishing. She embraced the thrill of taking risks, whether it was trying her luck at the casino or playing a lively game of bingo. Audrey’s sociable nature rendered her a true social butterfly, always engaging those around her with her warm presence and infectious laughter.
Card games were a favorite pastime of Audrey’s, and many cherished memories were made around the table as she shared her competitive spirit with family and friends. She was a faithful woman, finding solace and strength in her faith, and her commitment to her spiritual journey was reflected in her active involvement with Concordia Lutheran Pickerel Lake Church, where she was baptized, and later as a member of First Lutheran Church in Waldorf.
Audrey’s determination and independence were evident in her driving, which she continued to do until she reached the remarkable age of 88. She was admired for her resilience and ability to adapt, always embracing new experiences with open arms.
Professionally, Audrey dedicated 32 years of her life to working at Conagra Brands, Inc. in Wells, MN. Her unwavering work ethic, integrity, and camaraderie was deeply appreciated by her colleagues, making her an invaluable asset to the company.
Audrey Wittmer will be dearly missed by her nephews, Gary Wittmer (Robin), of Plymouth, Ross Wittmer (Mianne), of Clarks Grove, and John Wittmer, of Albert Lea; great-niece and great-nephews, Peter (Ashley), Charles, Matthew, Michael, Daniel (Melissa), John, Allison and Jacob; two friends, Warren and Jane Wehner who held a special place in her heart; and several extended family members and friends.
A gathering to celebrate Audrey’s life will be held Monday August 19, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf, Minnesota beginning at 1:00 PM. Audrey will be interred at Concordia Lutheran of Pickerel Lake.
