Clarence Eggers Jr.

Clarence Frederick Eggers Jr, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away Monday, August 26th, 2024 in his home surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday September 6, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Eileen Woyen will be officiating.

Clarence was born in Meriden Township, on March 14th, 1933 to Clarence Sr and Alice Eggers. He was the eldest of 7 children, the only son. He grew up on his family farm near Ellendale, helping out with chores and farmwork. He graduated from Ellendale High School in 1951, he then went on to receive a college degree from Mankato State College. After college, Clarence ran his own business and was a cookware salesman for 60 years.

Clarence married the love of his life LaVonne Hagen on August 31st, 1952 at LeSueur River Lutheran Church near New Richland, MN. They were married almost 72 years.

Clarence’s love for Christ had a large role in his life, a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Albert Lea, MN. He taught Sunday School, served on the church council, ushered, and played dartball. Clarence took pride in his family, his faith, and his friendships. You could always find Clarence supporting the Minnesota sports teams, especially the Twins. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, going to breakfast and having coffee with friends.

Left to cherish his memory are wife LaVonne, children: Gary (LuAnn) Eggers, Pamela Huus, Craig (Julie) Eggers, and Jill (Tim) Butt. Sisters: Dee Sundem, Beverly Meixner, Phyllis (Bill) Stransky, and Margie DeBower. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Sr and Alice Eggers, mother and father in law, Helen and Oscar C Hagen, sisters, Eleanor Wangen and Patty Eggers, grandson, Cody Baseman, brothers in Law, Lyle DeBower, Vern Sundem, Ralph Wangen, and Marvin Meixner.
