Mayo Clinic Health System announced this week it will not reopen its New Richland clinic after it closed for flooding in late June.
In a statement, the health system stated both the New Richland and Waterville clinic buildings experienced significant damage from the flooding, which resulted in temporary closures.
“After a thorough assessment, MCHS has determined that the buildings are no longer safe for our staff or patient care and will not reopen,” it stated.
Staff previously providing care at the Waterville clinic have transitioned permanently to the Mayo Clinic Health System Waseca campus, and Waterville patients have been receiving in-person care there or at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
The nurse practitioner who previously provided care at the New Richland clinic has transitioned permanently to Mayo locations in Albert Lea and Wells, and New Richland patients have been receiving in-person care there. Support staff from New Richland have been offered other roles with the health system.
