Sen. Gene Dornink and I spoke in front of the DFL fair booth at the Freeborn County Fair. I asked the senator what about Project 2025. The senator claimed he did not know much about Project 2025. I said this to the senator: “I don’t believe you.”

There are two excellent sources to learn more about Project 2025. First, there is a guide to Project 2025, the extreme right-wing agenda for the next Republican administration. This guide is located on the Media Matters for America webpage.

This guide will show you how our senator will provide support to end our freedom to live in a democracy plus how Donald Trump will execute the end of American Democracy as the MAGA enforcer.

Second, there is the approximately 250-page book — “Democracy In Chains” — written by Dr. Nancy MacLean, who is the William H. Chafe professor of history and public policy, Duke University; director of the Center for the Study of Class, Labor and Social Sustainability (CLASS Center).

The publisher of this book writes: “A piercing examination of the right’s relentless campaign to eliminate unions, suppress voting, privatize public education, stop action on climate change and alter the constitution.” At least as long as our state senator has been on the political stage, he has supported this right-wing campaign to end American democracy.

Taking the time to read the Media Matters guide plus Dr. MacLean’s book are needed to prepare you to fight back — to go on the offense — and save your freedom to live in a democracy.

In the future, please have the confidence to put up lawn signs for VP/presidential candidate Kamala Harris, her running mate Gov. Walz, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, 1st Congressional District candidate Rachel Bowman, and Minnesota House District 23A candidate Joe Staloch. All of them are fighting to save our freedom to live in a democracy.
