SEMAC, a nonprofit arts agency, is designated by the State of Minnesota Arts Board as the regional arts council for eleven southeastern Minnesota counties: Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha and Winona.

The Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council is pleased to announce that applications for the School Residency Grant program opened on July 1 for the 2024-25 school year.

This program aims to enrich the educational experience of K-12 students through interactive arts activities with professional artists.

Program highlights:

• $3,000 grants available for artist residencies in public or non-religious private schools

• Residencies must last between one and five school days

• No matching funds required

• Annual reapplication possible for previous recipients

• Rolling deadline: 30 days prior to the planned residency

The residencies are designed to supplement, not replace, existing school curricula. Programs must culminate in a public capstone event showcasing student work.

Importantly, activities designed solely to meet K-12 Minnesota academic standards in the arts are not eligible for this grant.

Interested schools and artists can find more information and apply at www.semac.org.
